While the holidays are supposed to bring feelings of joy, love, and togetherness, the traveling aspect can be a source of stress, which can lead to sleep problems for many of us.
On average, Americans have reported getting about 7 hours and 36 minutes of sleep each night. Although this fits within the recommended 7 – 8 hours for adults, The Sleep Foundation found that 35% of Americans report their sleep quality as “poor” or “only fair.”
Not getting enough sleep can leave us feeling exhausted and unwilling to participate in fun holiday activities. It can make it harder to stay awake during the day, affect our blood pressure, and make it more difficult for us to concentrate.
